The patient underwent surgical removal of a sarcoma over the
sacrum with a flap closure and split thickness skin graft (STSG).
NPWT caused hyper-granulation when
placed over the STSG.
We were asked to get the wound closed
as quickly as possible so the patient
could undergo local radiation therapy.
He returned after local radiation with a small open wound
along the original suture line.
7 months later, this non healing area persisted along the
scar of the flap in the irradiated field.
The wound in the irradiated field along the suture line had
been open a total 9.5 months.
The Wound closed in 11 weeks after OxyBand treatments
began.
